About Us

It all began in 1958, when Ted Martin watchmaker and inventor, had a vision to expand his jewelry business into a mobile unit. Ted purchased a tent to sell engravable aluminum jewelry which was quite popular at that time. After a few years he expanded the business to include scenic paintings, which he could paint while you waited. Since the beginning, his wife Helen and two daughter's Carol and Diane, were by his side to assist in making the frames and to help wherever needed. In 1964, Ted got a spot under the grandstand at the Great Darke County Fair and so began a along tradition of the Martin Family at the fair.

Many people from Darke County have fond memories of watching and waiting in the cool shade of the grandstand for their paintings to be completed. Ted also purchased an ice cream truck and miniature golf course to travel around with as well. 1981, on the first day of the fair, Ted passed away unexpectedly and a decision was made to carry on with the Martin tradition. Since no one could paint pictures, a decision was made to try making traditional lemonade shake-ups. Ted's daughter Carol and her husband Terry Price got a crash course in shaking and squeezing lemons the old fashioned way to make a delicious drink. The entire family pitched in including Ted's other daughter Diane, and they closed the fair that year a great success.

After several years of working the grandstand at the fair, Terry and Carol purchased a mobile food trailer and the smallest camper ever made to travel around Ohio and sell lemonade.

Throughout the 1980's they grew this business to include 3 lemonade trailers, a fried food trailer and an Italian sausage trailer. During this time, they grew bigger at the Darke County Fair, with eight locations to serve everyone's concession needs. Traveling to fairs in Ohio and Indiana , we have visited many towns and cities and made many dear friends. At the turn of the century, a decision was made to focus the business on a lemonade and sausage only.
